Woodlane wind farm - just one of over 20 wind farms proposed around Selby, Goole, Pontefract and Castleford.
If you value the countryside and don’t want to see mile after mile of giant wind turbines, join us in fighting the wind farm developers.
Welcome to Stopwoodlane

The Woodlane proposal
14 turbines, 125m (410ft) high, close to homes in Gateforth, Birkin, Hillam and West Haddlesey. Full details of the Woodlane Proposal
What problems could turbines cause for you?
Noise, Visual impact, Health, Shadow flicker, changing your environment from rural to industrial. Reasons to object:- Woodlane Objections.
Why are 125m turbines proposed so close to homes?
Why do planning rules not set a minimum distance? How much energy do wind farms produce? Why is there no compensation for residents? How can wind farms make so much money? What happens when there is no wind? All the Key Issues.
Will your house lose value due to turbines ?
The wind industry claim that turbines close to homes do not cause values to fall. We think otherwise. Read the claims made by the wind industry and then decide. Effect on House prices.
How much disruption is caused during construction
Rusholme had 20,000 heavy lorries passing close to homes. Heavy machines, dust and noise. Read about the Construction process.
Wind energy is expensive energy
The wind might be free but the electricity generated is anything but free. A system of financial incentives for the wind farm owners ensures generous profits for them, paid by us through increased prices for electricity.
The Key Issues pages tell you how the incentives work and how the extra cost is hidden in your bill.
Wind energy cannot be relied upon
In the record cold spell of 2010 there was very little wind and the turbines produced virtually no power. Gas and coal fired power stations were used to produce all the extra power needed for us to keep warm - and to produce the power that was supposed to come from turbines.
Wind farms built and operational.
Wind farm approved, not yet built
Plans submitted, but not yet decided.
Wind farms in the design stage - prior to a planning application.
Rejected by local planners. The developer has appealed or is expected to do so. These wind farms could still go ahead.
Rejected at appeal.
Or application withdrawn.
Wind energy is destructive energy - so many turbines are required to match a power station that most of the country side will need to be industrialised. Join our campaign to save our rural environment from becoming an almost continuous wind farm complex stretching for over 45km.
