7 Dec 2010   e-on withdraw application for Aire and Calder wind farm

East Riding Council have announced that e-on have withdrawn their application for a 15 turbine wind farm known as Aire and Calder and located south of Snaith and West Cowick. We have updated our map accordingly. It still has over 20 wind farm proposals with over 200 turbines. Of these 22 turbines are operational and 96 more have already been approved.

E-on said

It is with regret that we have withdrawn our planning application for the Aire & Calder wind farm due to an ongoing objection from the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The project has been in planning for five years and during this time we have worked continuously to identify solutions and resolve these issues but have been unable to agree a solution with the MoD.

We feel that Aire & Calder offers great potential as a wind farm scheme and we will continue to work with the MoD and wider renewable industry to find a solution.

In other words the proposal could be re-submitted if a solution is found to the RAF Radar issue.
