Cumulative impact

The character of an area is determined by the number, size and relative position of major structures within it.

At present we have coal mines, power stations and lines of pylons. In spite of this the area still creates an impression of being rural. Power stations are relatively compact and widely spaced.

Our map shows that if all wind farms currently planned were built there would be 4 wind farms within 5km of a large number of villages. ( Grey shaded area) Three for much of the rest of the area - blue shaded. And two from most of the rest of the area of the map ( pink shaded area).

The whole area would become an extended wind farm complex.
