Construction

The construction of Rusholme wind farm showed us what to expect from wind farm contruction.

Windfarm contractors rode roughshod over the local community. Roads were diverted to suit their needs. Traffic for the site damaged local roads, caused congestion and brought problems for residents who felt powerless to do anything about it.

20,000 lorry journeys.

15,000 tons of concrete for the turbine bases.

6.5km of roads - 4.5metre wide and made with gravel up to 1metre deep.

All brought in by lorry.

Further information available on our construction pages.

A dust cloud as one lorry approaches houses by the access road.

Now multiply by 20,000 to get the full effect.
