Two possible routes from the M62

Blue route - A19 from the M62, around Selby by-pass, through Hambleton, along the A63 and down Lowfield Road to Hillam Common Lane, finally Roe Lane. Requires road widening and junction changes.

Red Route - Along the old A1 then through Brotherton, Sutton Lane to Birkin and up Roe lane. Requires junction changes and bends smoothing out.

HGV traffic to the site - do you live on one of these routes?

The developer estimates 5570 HGV loads for Woodlane - 10,000 loads were required at Rusholme. Turbines at Woodlane are 25% larger and there are more of them.

The developer estimates 112 abnormal loads, our picture below shows one such load delivering one turbine blade. We believe this figure is underestimated because it does not include the crane and each turbine may require more than 8 exceptional loads.

More than 20,000 HGV journeys predicted

20,000 HGV journeys were required at Rusholme. At the peak the contractor scheduled 12 HGV loads per hour - each then needed a return journey. They sometimes came in convoys of up to 15 vehicles. See panel to left.
